In 2008 Wave Slaves founders William Hinton and Charles Rusted conducted a survey to see how accessible surf related activities were to young people in Cornwall.

The results showed that on average only 3 young people out of a class of 30 had, in the past had the opportunity to experience surfing. This identified a need for an affordable, grass roots surf club in Newquay, catering for the local community.

Now as a registered CIO charity, run by a dedicated team of volunteers and qualified sports instructors. The club aims to build an inclusive community surf club that offers members a social opportunity and to learn surfing, sea skills and develop a love for exercise and being outdoors.

We are based on Fistral Beach and here for young people age 8-18 from Newquay and Cornwall.
